Mobile C-arms
Mobile C-arms are utilized in E.R.s, Pain Management, O.R.s, etc. Since they are mobile, the rooms they are in need no lead shielding; however, if they are permanently housed in one room, then that room should be shielded adequately, probably with lead. Because the use is so widespread, many of the fluoroscopists and staff who handle these units are inadequately trained in radiation safety.
