1.0 mm Pb reduces scattered X-rays by 99% (The additional weight is not worth it)
Some fluoroscopists, fearful of personal spinal compression, hesitate to wear lead aprons. This is imprudent, since newer tin/lead amalgams are much lighter, especially when worn in a skirt/vest fashion.
